History
Starmie is the evolution of Staryu, a Water/Psychic-type Pokémon introduced in the first generation. It is known for its star-shaped body and its central core jewel that emits colorful lights, giving it a mystical and powerful aura.
The Starmie 64/102 card is part of the Base Set, the very first expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game released in the West. This historic set laid the foundations for the TCG and is iconic for generations of collectors, marking the beginning of an era.
Keiji Kinebuchi's artwork for this card depicts Starmie in an aquatic environment, highlighting its luminous gems and fluid movement. It's a classic illustration that perfectly captures the essence of the Pokémon as it was perceived at the dawn of the TCG, a simple yet evocative design.
