History
Bellsprout is a Grass/Poison type Pokémon introduced in the first generation. Recognizable by its bell-shaped body and leaf-like arms, it is known for its ability to absorb moisture from the soil and camouflage itself. This card, number 49/64, is part of the Jungle expansion, the second major series of the Pokémon TCG, released after the Base Set.
The Jungle expansion is iconic because it introduced 48 new Pokémon to the game, significantly expanding the roster available to trainers. It is also famous for being the first set to offer holographic cards for non-legendary Pokémon, although this Bellsprout is a non-holographic common rarity version.
Sumiyoshi Kizuki's illustration for Bellsprout captures the essence of this Pokémon, depicting it in its natural habitat, potentially using its abilities. The artistic style of the era, simple and clear, highlights Bellsprout's distinctive features, making this card a classic for collectors and nostalgic players alike.
