History
Dragonite, an iconic first-generation Pokémon, is universally recognized for its benevolent nature and incredible power. This Dragon/Flying-type Pokémon is often depicted as a messenger of the seas, capable of navigating the globe in record time.
The Dragonite 4/62 Holo card comes from the Fossil expansion, the second major Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion, released after the Jungle expansion. Fossil introduced a new wave of Pokémon and was thematically centered around prehistoric and marine creatures, hence its name. Dragonite, while not a fossil Pokémon itself, perfectly fits this aquatic and aerial theme.
Kagemaru Himeno's artwork for this card captures Dragonite in majestic flight over a tumultuous ocean, exuding a sense of grandeur and freedom. This powerful visual, combined with its Rare Holo status, made this card one of the most sought-after of its era and a cornerstone for many collectors nostalgic for the early days of the Pokémon TCG.
