History
Venomoth, the Poison Moth Pokémon, is an iconic figure from the first generation, evolving from Venonat. Its holographic card, number 13/64 from the Fossil expansion, is a testament to the golden age of the Pokémon TCG. The Fossil expansion, released after the Base Set and Jungle sets, introduced 30 new Pokémon to the game, focusing on prehistoric creatures and their evolved forms. Although Venomoth isn't a fossil Pokémon itself, it seamlessly integrates into the diverse roster of this pioneering set.
The artwork for this card is the creation of Ken Sugimori, one of the most emblematic artists of the Pokémon franchise, known for designing most of the original Pokémon and their initial appearances. His distinctive style captures Venomoth in mid-flight, its vibrant wings and sensitive antennae highlighted, giving the card a recognizable energy and authenticity. The "2nd Edition" (often referred to as "unlimited") version of this card followed the first edition and represents an opportunity for collectors to acquire a vintage centerpiece.
