History
The Claydol ex 5/107 card from the EX Deoxys expansion takes us deep into an iconic era of the Pokémon TCG, that of the Pokémon-ex. Released in 2004, the EX Deoxys expansion focused on the Mythical Pokémon Deoxys and the mysteries of space, but it also featured Pokémon with ancient powers, such as Claydol.
Claydol, the Clay Doll Pokémon, is known for its enigmatic appearance and psychic abilities. Inspired by dogū, clay figures from Japan's Jōmon period, its unique design, with multiple eyes and the ability to levitate, makes it a fascinating creature. Hajime Kusajima's artwork on this holographic card perfectly captures this essence, presenting Claydol floating with a mystical aura, emphasizing its status as an ancient and powerful Pokémon.
As a Pokémon-ex card, Claydol ex was a cornerstone for decks at the time.
